The Recovery Church is sponsoring a weekend workshop on, “Relationships for Couples in Recovery”, led by John and Priscilla MacDougall, on the weekend of January 13-15. This is a workshop format, held at the church, so participants live at home and attend sessions at the church Friday evening, Saturday in the daytime, and Sunday from 11 to 1.
It is aimed at couples of all kinds in various stages of recovery, who would like to have better relationships, but it’s ok for single people to attend as well, because they might want to be part of a couple sometime.
John will be speaking about how the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions can be used to help have better relationships, taking one step and one tradition at a time. Priscilla will be bringing insights from the foremost researcher on marriage, John Gottman, concerning the characteristics of long term successful couples as well as the inevitability of conflict and ways to deal with it productively. John and Priscilla are a long term couple, having been married for over forty years.
This is the same material that they presented in a residential retreats at Hazelden that cost over $900 to attend. John and Priscilla are donating their time, and participants are living at home, so the costs are minimal. Lunch will be provided on Saturday. We are asking for a donation to the church of $50 per person, but you can contribute anything or nothing. Please return the registration form below along with your check to The Recovery Church, 253 State Street, St Paul, MN 55107.
